Assertiveness is Not a Skill You Can Learn

Putting yourself first in the moments of conflict seems easy, but when the time comes to do it, it’s often more difficult than meets the eye—some people dread just the thought of it. How to take care of yourself, how to take a stand, defend your position, opinion, values, things that matter to you—this is often harder than it should be. Assertiveness is a popular term—often talked about, but rarely practiced. Not because one would not have the skill, but because they do not have much more than that—self-respect.
