Ales is a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and psychotherapy trainer, based between London, United Kingdom, and Ljubljana, Slovenia.

He holds an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy from Middlesex University London, and is a Certified Transactional Analyst in the field of Psychotherapy (CTA-P). He is also a Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst (Psychotherapy) (PTSTA-P) and has a diploma in Transactional Analysis Counselling.

 

Ales's clinical practice is located between London, UK and Ljubljana, Slovenia, however, he also actively specialises in online psychotherapy. He has treated clients and patients from all accross the world.

 

Ales’s approach to clinical work and theory developments is mainly underpinned by psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theoretical framework, which also represent the foundations and roots of transactional analysis (TA).

 

Ales is active in research and theory development. He regularly publishes in scientific peer-reviewed journals and presents his work at international conferences. His theory development encompasses the development of a specific TA approach called interpretive dynamic transactional analysis psychotherapy (IDTAP). He has also written about psychotherapeutic work with dependency as well as discussed the modern perspective on the TA concept of OKness and its clinical applicability. In relation to group and societal dynamics, Ales published an article on deviance and the role of deviance on unconscious projective processes in groups.

 

He is also internationally active as a visiting trainer at various psychotherapy training institutes as well as independently.

 

He is currently involved in a research study evaluating Interpretive Dynamic Transactional Analysis psychotherapy (IDTAP) and its impacts on the level of personality functioning and adult attachment patterns for clients presenting with clinical and subclinical levels of borderline personality disorder (BPD).

 

Ales is also experienced in working as a an individual and group therapist within the NHS (National Health Service), where he used to practice at West London NHS GP surgery. He was also involved as a psychotherapeutic counsellor at Central and North West London (CNWL) NHS Foundation Trust—North Westminster Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).

 

Additionally, Ales holds a position of a special advisor for psychotherapy to the Minister of Health of the Republic of Slovenia where his role is supporting the reform of psychotherapy regulation and the preparation of the new psychotherapy legislation.
